Everything Gauge and Weight Class $18 (Knit or Crochet, Advanced Beginner/Intermediate)

Many knitters and crocheters avoid patterns or forge ahead without them because they find the language or instructions confusing, and just take a chance that what they make will work out. One of our missions at Sun Dragon is to help fiber artists learn the language of the written pattern to make what you love.

If you’ve every been mystified by terms like “gauge” or “weight” on a pattern recommendation, or if you’ve struggled with making you knit or crochet garments/hats/etc fit, this is the class for you! We will discuss all things weight and gauge, practice measuring swatches, and what to do if what you make doesn’t match what the pattern wants. Bring your questions, each class is tailored to the participants as much as possible!

Optional prep work to do before class/supplies needed (please buy what you do not already have at Sun Dragon):

  • You can knit a “swatch” with any scrap yarn you have: cast on about 20 stitches, and knit about 3-4” of stockinette (knit one row, purl one row). We can measure in class to see what your gauge is. This is not required to participate in class!

  • any range of needles or hooks you have near what you knit/crochet up, in case we need to change sizes. We will provide a range as well.

If you can't make this time, contact me to arrange a lesson at another time.
