The Papillion Shawl is always a favorite and envy of all, and the Butterfly Cowl as a great smaller piece to learn the basics of the Papillion technique! We will start both/either during this class: learn the basic technique and structure of this beautiful piece based on counting and short rows. Stitch markers are your friends for this one!
Supplies (not included with price of class, please buy needed supplies at Sun Dragon; supplies bought at Sun Dragon specifically for Saturday classes are 10% off):
Papillion Shawl: Approximately 200g (2 skeins or the equivalent in multiple colors) main color, 100g (1 skein) contrast color, both fingering weight. Shop sample (not pictured) Perth Rainbow Reef and Cascade Heritage Silk Black.
Butterfly Cowl: Approximately 100 yards maincolor, 80 yards contrast color of fingering weight. Shop sample (not pictured): Daydream Dyeworks Flutterby and Plymouth Electra Lite
US size 2 or 4: the shawl calls for a 4 (3.5mm) and the cowl a 2 (2.75mm), either pattern will probably work on either needle, whichever you are more comfortable using.
Many stitch markers, the more the better. More if you are making the shawl. I recommend 2 of a contrasting color to the majority to help you keep track of the center stitch.
Papillion Shawl ($14) or Butterfly Cowl ($7) pattern available on Ravelry. We can also help you get this, and print it for you, in the shop.
If you can't make this time, contact me to arrange a lesson at another time.
Payment is not needed until the day of the class.
